An emotional Journey to our New Gurdwara Sahib…..

It’s truly been a very emotional and exciting journey for us all, and as mentioned by the trustees, we have now sold the existing Gurdwara Sahib site on Meynell Road from where we commenced our journey 50 years ago. The Sangat will have many memories of this time and based on this it has been decided to make a special memorial for our loved ones at the New Gurdwara Sahib in Hamilton so that they can be remembered by future generations. You will be able to purchase a special plaque for the memorial which will cover the cost of the building the memorial and include a contribution to the New Gurdwara building. We will release information for this shortly.

Message from the Trustees…..

Sadh Sangat ji, Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Earlier on in 2019 in line with the overall strategic plan and new build Gurdwara Sahib, the Trustees instructed the President to seek property valuations and place RBL Meynell Rd premises for sale. The Trustees have a legal duty to protect RBL’s assets and to gain the maximum price possible should any assets be sold. We received many offers including from other faith based religious organisations and as per the Trustees obligations we accepted the highest offer. The premises have now been sold. However, we will remain in the building as tenants until we move to the new Gurdwara Sahib which is scheduled to be November 2020.

The new build project of our Gurdwara Sahib is successfully continuing. Managing the project requires intensive planning and continuous monitoring which is a hugely time-consuming process undertaken by volunteer Sewadars. The Trustees wish to express their continued support and appreciation of the efforts made by the Sewadars on the Executive Committee and Project Team who continue to tirelessly focus in planning and implementing all aspects of the new build.

The new Gurdwara Sahib is for the benefit of the present and future Sikh community. It is not only the responsibility of the Trustees and Executive Committee to be the key drivers for its success. As Sikhs we all have a moral obligation and responsibility to be involved. A project of this scale can only succeed with the goodwill and ongoing support of the Sangat. Fund-raising is vitally important to this project and we respectfully encourage you to make cash donations or set up a monthly bank standing order.

To the members of the Sangat who have contributed by making donations or bank standing orders and the Sewadars involved in the various fund-raising activities, we wholeheartedly thank you and are grateful for your continued support.

Finally, RBL has been established on Meynell Rd for nearly 50 years. Every member of the Sangat will have fond memories of Meynell Rd and with some sadness we will have to leave the building next year. The new Gurdwara Sahib will attract Sikhs from not only Leicester but across the UK and will provide and fulfil the religious needs of all its users. We look forward to moving into the new Gurdwara Sahib with great excitement, hope and optimism.
